S. Rafael

Age: 29 | Organization: Rafael | Role: Thermal Engineer, Heat and Mass Transfer Department
S., 29 years old, works at Rafael as a thermal engineer in the MAPA division. She led a critical and essential research project on cooling solutions using heat pipes and integrating them into mechanical structures, a study that will support many future projects at Rafael.
Over the past year, S. was called to reserve duty and served for several months in the Kirya HQ in a significant and impactful role, all while continuing her challenging studies at the Technion, where she is completing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
With demanding product requirements, S. ensures in her work that products meet temperature challenges and mission objectives, staying at the forefront of technology and developing revolutionary products that contribute to national security.
S. shares:
“After completing my military service as an officer in a unique command center within the research division of the Intelligence Corps, I decided to study Aerospace Engineering at the Technion and quickly fell in love with the worlds of aviation and space. Only when I joined Rafael as a young student did my military background and meaningful service connect with the fields of technology. Since then, I’ve been working at Rafael for over three years, proud of the diverse and highly important work I do, even more so since the beginning of the ‘Iron Swords’ war, during which I have also served in the reserves. At Rafael, I specialize in thermal engineering.
I’ve had the privilege of working on various projects, some classified and others more high-profile, like David’s Sling. Most of my work focuses on research to enable thermal protection for the next generation of Rafael systems. This work is a dream come true for me, combining logical thinking with creative problem-solving in the search for the most advanced solutions. In today’s world, as technology evolves, the challenges only grow.
My parents raised my sisters and me to aim high, succeed, and realize our potential. In my job today, I wake up every morning with a sense of purpose and fulfilment.”
